Windows

Control Local Data Storage

• To control whether a copy of the cloud file is stored on the local hard drive.
  • Open File Explorer and navigate to Nextcloud folder
  • Right click on the file to store/not store

  • Choose "Nextcloud" option and select one of see SetLocalCopyofCloudStorage.png

    • "Make always available locally"
    • "Free up local space.

  • To view if file/directory is stored, or in cloud, or in being synced, note the icon on Windows File Explorer LocalCopyStatusofCloudStorage.png

• Note there are also options during NextCloud Client Storage.

• Windows has a feature to enable/disable local storage automatically (Not tested yet)

Outlook Calendars and Contacts

• To share Calendars and and Contacts use Caldav Synchronizer https://caldavsynchronizer.org/help/documentation/ (Required for Outlook versions <= 2017, later versions not tested but listed as supported)

• Update Windows Updates, insure .net framework is installed.

Calendars

• Create calendar to be shared on NextCloud (if this has not been done already)

• Create blank calendar folder on Outlook.

  • -> Calendar tab at bottom of Outlook

  • -> Home tab on "ribbon" at top of Outlook

  • Select "Manage Calendars" from icon menu

  • -> Create New Blank Calendar from pull-down menu

• Create Caldav sync profile on CalDav Synchronizer

  • enter server URL, username and password
  • select the blank folder to be used for sync
  • use "Test or Discover settings" button to find and select shared contact list.

    • Note ".well-known/caldav" URL shortcut must work on NextCloud server for this to work.

    • The "type" attribute of the above folder will cause the CalDav Synchroniser to list available contact list or calendar to sync

Contacts

• Create contact list to be shared on NextCloud (if this has not been done already)

• Create blank contact folder on Outlook.
  • Create blank folder and select type "contacts"

• Create Caldav sync profile on CalDav Synchronizer

  • enter server URL, username and password
  • select the blank folder to be used for sync
  • use "Test or Discover settings" button to find and select shared contact list.

    • Note ".well-known/caldav" URL shortcut must work on NextCloud server for this to work.
