SMTP (Outgoing Mail) Settings

It is usually best practice to send out mail through whoever you are connecting to the internet through. For instance, if you are using ZSD to connect to the internet then you should be using one of ZSD's SMTP Servers. As we provide different ways to connect to the internet these servers aren't always the same for all our customers.

  • If you are connecting through our "Capped" ADSL service, ISDN or Roadrunner Dial-up service then you should use smtp-za.zsd.co.za
  • If you are connecting through our Uncapped Home ADSL service then you should use smtp-is.zsd.co.za.
  • If you are connecting through our email only or Captonian service then you should use smtp-ct.zsd.co.za.

Other commonly used SMTP servers used in South Africa, but not supported by ZSD are:

  • Vodacom: smtp.vodacom.co.za, smtp.vodamail.co.za
  • MTN: mail.mtn.co.za
  • iBurst: smtp.iburst.co.za
  • Cell C: smtp.cmobile.co.za

Some users who switch between internet connections frequently have a requirement for an authenticated SMTP service. For this they can use smtp-auth.zsdmail.com. For this option users will also need to select an option saying something to the effect of "My outgoing server requires authentication". How no security or encryption is required.
